Details emerge on Howie Mandel Hospitalized for Irregular Heartbeat
I am sure by now you have all seen the headlines on Howie Mandel’s medical scare as he was hospitalized last night with an irregular heartbeat.
The Deal Or No Deal host, 53, was in Toronto to shoot his new NBC show Howie Do It, and according to TMZ underwent a “cast physical.” After listening to Howie’s heart, the doctor said, “I don’t like something.”
Not what you want to hear from a doctor examining you and on further testing including an EKG to confirm, the irregular heartbeat.
Apparently prior to the physical, Howie never felt or knew anything was wrong with his heart, but later that day, Howie began feeling ill from something he felt was heart-related. Power of suggestion, perhaps? Mandel is already quite neurotic with obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) and mysophobia (fear of germs). The doctor gave Howie medicine to control his heartbeat but cautioned him not to take it on an empty stomach. Howie, however, took the med without eating anything and apparently had a reaction.
Doctors expect him to be released and back to work today, according to Howie’s rep.
